Solo
If you are looking for a new and exciting
skill to add to your repertoire then odds are you may be
considering learning how to play the guitar. Whether you
goal is to play for fun or profit, learning how to play
the guitar can be fun and exciting if you have the proper
skills in your repertoire. Unless you have actually tried
it for yourself, you may find that playing the guitar is
actually a lot easier than you may think. Here we will
discuss some simple tips as well as common mistakes you
will want to avoid on your road to learning how to play
songs on the guitar.
Common Mistakes:
First, avoid trying to learn how to play
songs on the guitar on your own. One of the most common
mistakes people make is they will try and learn a song without
first learning the basics to playing the guitar. While this
method can lead you to success, it can only be achieved if you
choose the right song. Avoid anything that is too complex
because that increases the chance you will fail long before you
even start.
Simple Tips to Playing Guitar Songs
Successfully:
First, before you even consider playing you
will first need to obtain a guitar. You can either purchase a
beginner set which should include a practice amp, pick, strap
and an extra set of strings for a few hundred bucks. If you
prefer to save money, you can always try and borrow one from a
friend or relative. You may even be able to find one at a local
garage sale if you are willing to do a little legwork in order
to obtain the instrument that will help you achieve your
dreams.

Second, you
will want to get familiar with the strings before you start
playing. On the road to learning how to play songs on the
guitar you will need to start somewhere. The easiest thing
to do once you get your new toy home is to pick it up and
start striking each string individually. You will want to
start from the lowest string, which is E, and work your way
to the highest, which is e. All six strings are E, A, D, G,
B, e with the strings working from the thickest, lowest
pitch to the thinnest, highest pitch string.
Third, focus on flicking your wrist as you
strike the string. You will want to hold the pick lightly, near
the tip and between your thumb and first finger. Start
practicing with the guitar’s open strings by starting with a
low E and working all the way to the high E.
Fourth, as you master the strings, upgrade
to playing notes. In order to achieve playing guitar songs
success, you will need to start learning the notes before you
can play the song. Your left hand will serve as your guide. As
you play a particular note, your finger should press down in
the string as close to the vertical metal bar as possible while
avoiding making contact with the bar. Your next step is to
strike the string. This should result in a clear note that is
free from vibration from the string. If the string does in fact
vibrate it may be because you are not pressing down hard enough
on the string or your finger is actually making contact with
the vertical metal fret bar.
Fifth, the easiest way to learn how to play
even when you can’t read music is to use a guitar tab. A guitar
tab will display all six strings and their coexisting numbers.
Play the riffs in the order they are listed on the guitar tab
and you will be on your way to playing a song.
Lastly, guitar tabs with multiple numbers means you will play a
chord. If for example if you see a 3, 5, 3 stacked on top of an
A, D, G, that means you will want to play the A, D, G string at
the same time as the corresponding tabs.
These are just a few of the simple tips
that can help you become successful in learning how to play
songs on the guitar. Start small by learning how to play basic
notes, and avoid trying to play a song that is beyond your
skill level, and you will be able to be successful in playing
guitar songs no matter where your guitar playing skill level
may be.
