Skill Level

their favorite rock songs, many prefer to learn just so
they can have the skills needed to write their own music.
Regardless of your goals, here are some simple tips that

achieve your goals no matter what your skill level may
be.
First, before you
even attempt to play any guitar song, you will want to
make sure your guitar is tuned correctly. If you try and
an play a guitar song and your guitar is not properly
tuned, the songs you end up playing on the guitar will
not end up sounding right at all.
Second, in order to learn to play guitar
songs you will need to train your ear to listen to the song.
Before you even try and play the song you will want to listen
to the song that you want to play at least a few
times.
As you listen to the song
you will want to pay attention to the rhythm and timing
of the chords and strums that are being played. After
listening to the song a few times, you will then want to
follow along with the song guitar tab while the song is
playing. You will want to do this at least a few times as
well so you can make a mental note of the rhythm and
timing of the song. When choosing a song its best to
start out with songs that are simple, usually those that
use only three simple chords. As you improve you can then
move onto the more complex songs of your
choice.

Third, after you have listened to the song
a few times while following along on the guitar tab, you can
then pick up your own guitar. As the song plays, try and strum
along with the song. Just make sure to not play too loudly,
otherwise you may not be able to hear the song that you are
trying to learn.
Fourth, after
playing along with the song, the next step in how to
learn to play guitar songs is to start playing the songs
on your own without the music. Once you have the timing
and the strumming style down you should have enough
experience with the song to be able to play it on your
own. Just make sure to stick with one song and keep
working on that song until you perfect it. At that point
you can then move on to your next song of choice, and
keep following this pattern until you have a hefty
repertoire of songs to impress your friends
with.
Lastly, consider
videotaping yourself while playing. Whether you have been
playing for a few months or a few years, there may be
times when you are learning how to play songs on the
guitar that you just can’t possibly figure out what you
are doing wrong. Videotaping yourself while you learn
guitar song can help you identify what you are doing
wrong by watching yourself play. This way you can
identify what you are doing wrong and correct your
technique so your skills can improve.
These are just a
few of the tips that can help you learn to play guitar
songs. Always make sure your guitar is tuned, and take
your time listening to your guitar song of choice before
you start playing, and you will be able to learn any song
you fancy while building a hefty repertoire of songs that
will impress your friends and family for years to
come.
