Second, remember that learning to play the guitar will take some time. While you already know that learning to play the guitar is not easy, it is also not a skill you will be able to obtain overnight. In order to become proficient at playing the guitar you will need to set aside some time each day to practice. You will need to learn how to tune your guitar, learn how to play simple chords, as well as simple songs and then move on from there. As your skills improve you will be able to proficiently play harder songs, but just remember that a high level of proficiency is not something that can be obtained in a short amount of time.  

Lastly, remember that learning to play the guitar will take a lot of patience. Whether you are learning how to play the guitar, or any other skill that strikes your fancy, there is a good chance that you will make mistakes when you first start out. There may be days that you may want nothing to do with your guitar, days that you would much rather dispose of it at the local pawn shop simply because you think you never reach your goal of becoming a highly skilled guitar player. Learning to play the guitar is hard and if you want it bad enough you need to stick with it no matter what difficulties may stand in your way.
