“I bought Guitar Tutor Pro last year. I am looking for a more extensive course and that's how I came across this site. I thought Guitar Tutor Pro was a great course for getting started with the guitar. I am now taking lessons from a friend of mine and he was quite impressed when I first started working with him that I knew as much as I did already. I guess I have Guitar Tutor Pro to thank for that. I wouldn't recommend it to advanced players or people just looking to learn to read and write music for the guitar.”

“Although in retrospect I wish I would have known about some of the other guitar lesson downloads available. I liked the Guitar Tutor Pro download and it's a good value for the money but I have since read about other programs that seem to offer a little more for about the same price. Guitar Tutor Pro does offer quite a bit of information and the software that comes with the download is very cool. If it wasn't so inexpensive I would have been disappointed but for the price it's not a bad deal.”

“It is obvious that Ryan Cameron has put a lot of effort and enthusiasm in his Guitar Tutor Pro course. Despite some flaws, it provides a solid educational foundation for any guitar enthusiast. The low price makes this a good value. The Guitar Tutor Pro photos could be sharper, have better lighting and offer clearer alternative angles of the guitar. The fret numbers for many of the TAB illustrations are often too fuzzy to read, appear on the wrong lines and sometimes represent the wrong octaves.

The absence of video illustrations makes learning guitar, especially for beginners, much more difficult. Seeing and hearing how the guitar is played is a much more powerful way to learn than with just a book and audio illustrations. I wish the course was available with pre-printed books and audio CD’s. This would save a tremendous amount of set up time and would be worth paying a little extra.”

There is a lot of instruction at the beginner and intermediate level and there are some cool bonuses too. It would be nice to see more advanced-level instruction. I thought the quality of the instruction was high because it teaches you music and some basic music theory so you know why you're playing what you're playing. However, there are no video clips, which I considered a quality issue.

Overall Recommendations

The Mastering Guitar course from The Guitar Tutor Pro is a good program for the beginner. A common complaint is that some of the pages from the download are fuzzy but from an overall price stand point this course gives a lot of very good information. One drawback from all the comments gathered is the lack of video demonstrations which other courses provide and can make learning alot more easier and faster.
